As some of you know, I am in a blogging class. One of our assignments is to write an editorial on an issue we find important. The first part of this assignment is to make a claim and support it with facts. This is a little different than what I normally post, but it still might be interesting to you. This can be a little peek into the writing process. Grab a cup of tea, and let’s get started!

Claim:

The US government must make an effort to pass legislature that will lower the price of insulin.

Supporting Facts

Insulin is vital to the body. Type 1 Diabetics cannot live without insulin from an external source.

The annual cost of insulin has more than doubled since 2012.

Diabetics are rationing and going without insulin because it is too expensive. This has resulted in several deaths and hospitalizations.

Insulin is not as expensive to produce as it is being sold for.

The reason why insulin is being sold at such a high price is supply and demand. Drug companies know they can make money off insulin.
